How Many Plants
Three years into my pandemic plant hoarding journey, my alive to dead stats are ok, but could be better. Our house is walls of windows, but I still struggle with securing reliable spots with the right light. I’ve also found that there are certain plants where we lack compatibility. For whatever reason, prayer plants come to die in my home, so I’ve given up on buying them. And snake plants — the “easiest” plant to grow — don’t perish, but they are the furthest thing from thriving. They are the equivalent to the kitten you see on “hang in there” posters.
I have books on hand, consult with my favor nursery, and learn through some trial and error. I’m always on the lookout for more material to ensure my plants stay happy, though. Enter How Many Plants, where the mantra is there is no such thing as too many plants. These are my people.
True, there are other guides on the internet, many of which are run by experts and enthusiasts. And a search on Google will probably get you an answer or three to any individual question you may have. HMP is a one-stop shop though, AND it’s so pretty! Come for the knowledge, stay for the eye candy.
A plant-obsessed interior designer created the site and you can tell that it was born with the purpose of filling all the voids (literally and figuratively?) they encountered. It’s full of amazing troubleshooting articles, a pest identification primer, planter picks, design tips, detailed plant profiles all with a fabulous interface and swoon worthy art. My only quibble: the completist in me wishes they would add a few more plants in their reference guides, but I’m sure that will come in time. So that aside, this is my official bookmarked place to replenish my confidence when it waivers, and keep all my little babies happy.
